The Story of the USA | Books 1-4 | by Franklin Escher, Jr.
Includes Books 1-4 – Books 1 has the most wear & tear with the cover separated from the book, but still completely usable. The other 3 books are in good to excellent shape.
The Story of the U.S.A is a series of workbooks that present basic topics in American history in language that’s easy to read without sacrificing interest or scholarship. Written for the upper elementary and secondary levels, these illustrated books offer intelligently written and carefully structured material which develops vocabulary and comprehension skills as well as informs.
Book 1, Explorers and Settlers, covers Native American civilizations through the American Revolution. Each chapter opens with a vocabulary section of 5 to 10 words with pronunciations. Passages are followed by multiple choice, fill in the blank, and true/false questions with a writing and discussion element at the end of the chapter. There is a review test after chapter 7 and a final cumulative test. Grades 4-8.
Book 2, A Young Nation Solves Its Problems, covers the Articles of Confederation through the Civil War. Each chapter opens with a vocabulary section of 5 to 10 words with pronunciations. Passages are followed by multiple choice, fill in the blank, and true/false questions with a writing and discussion element at the end of the chapter. There is a final cumulative test. Grades 4-8.
Book 3, America Becomes a Giant, covers the Reconstruction Era through the Korean War. Each chapter opens with a vocabulary section of 5 to 10 words with pronunciations. Passages are followed by multiple choice, fill in the blank, and true/false questions with a writing and discussion element at the end of the chapter. There is a final cumulative test. Grades 4-8.
Book 4 Modern America, covers the Eisenhower years through the election of Bill Clinton. Each chapter opens with a vocabulary section of 5 to 10 words with pronunciations.
