Read with the Best For the Middle Grades: The Medieval World Teacher’s Edition
We used this to guide our literature selections in conjunction with reading Story of the World book 2: The Middle Ages.
This is the teacher’s guide — with the answers to the vocabulary and discussion questions from the student workbook.
(you need to purchase/borrow the actual books separately they are not included in the guide)
You can do the books in any order, week by week vocabulary and short answer questions are included for the following books:
The Door in the Wall
Castle Diary
Otto of the Silver Hand
Adam of the Road
“Choose your own” biography unit (2)
Dangerous Journey
The Shakespeare Stealer (we went on to read the rest of this series over the summer because we liked it so much!)
There is an appendix in the back with all kinds of organizers for character studies, setting studies, plot/story line maps, etc.
I will be listing some of the books separately that we used (some we got from the library).
I will also be listing my Story of the World curriculum in the coming weeks!$12.00$22.95 -
Managers of Their Schools: A Practical Guide to Homeschooling by Steven and Teri Maxwell
This book gives very practical information about how to set up a homeschool, from summer prep to planning day-to-day schedules.
Great for families just beginning or wanting to get more consistency into their school days. This book greatly helped me gain the confidence that I COULD homeschool multiple grades without pulling my hair out!
The appendix gives plenty of examples to help guide in planning subjects/schedules.
I will also be listing Manager of Their Chores and Managers of Their Homes by the same authors.
This is the older version (2008) — in perfect condition, no writing, highlighting etc.$7.00$19.95 -
Managers of Their Chores: A practical Guide to Children’s Chores by Steven and Teri Maxwell
This book was IMMENSELY helpful in organizing household chores and implement systems to have my kids help with chores — it has step-by-step directions, examples, and master chore lists.
Brand new condition (no writing) — it is missing the chore packs (holders) which are available from the original publisher at www.chorepacks.com for $11, or any office supply store (basically a clip on badge with a pocket for storing the cards). Cards themselves can be made using any word or google document with a little planning/prep or even by hand!.
The book itself is VERY useful even without the chore packs!
I am also listing Managers of Their Schools, a companion book by the same authors.$10.00$30.00 -
Grammar for the Well Trained MInd (Teacher Instruction Text for Yaars 1-4)
Scripted lessons and step-by-step instruction take students from the most basic concepts through advanced grammatical concepts such as modal verbs and multiple functions of noun clauses, while extensive diagramming exercises reinforce the rules (and are a great help to technical and visual learners).
Text for examples and exercises are drawn from great works of literature, as well as from well-written nonfiction texts in science, mathematics, and the social sciences. The program is easily customizable to each student’s strengths and weaknesses, and regular review leads to mastery.
